We recently met up with Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire at the US press launch of the new 718 Boxster and Cayman in Austin, Texas. While there, the conversation obviously gravitated toward the car we were both there to test drive. For the most part, we had very similar opinions of the car. It drives like a dream. It’s faster, more comfortable, and more technologically advanced than the car it replaces. At certain angles, it even looks better than the 981 generation car (especially the Cayman).
Where we disagreed, however, was the sound. Matt says he doesn’t mind the sound of the new turbocharged flat four, likening it to the engine note of a new Subaru WRX. The great thing about this One Take video, however, is that at 20-minutes long, you can decide for yourself if you like the sound the car makes.
Matt takes some time on the road to discuss the merits of the new car with Porsche’s PR man Frank Weismann. They discuss everything from lap-times to driving comfort to slip angle allowances. The engine is the underlying note throughout the entire video. If you’re considering a 718 Cayman or Boxster, this video is worth a watch.

NICE, Matt is entertaining i noticed Matt was changing gears a lot for no reason on the way out and then on the way back Matt started using the engines torque, still very nice, a 2.5 litre Turbo flat 6 would have been perfect, but it would do a lot better than the 991 ?
