Security was pretty tight at the Porsche booth during the New York International Auto Show and understandably so. Not only was the all new 2014 GT3 on the stage, but thanks to a loan from Jerry Seinfeld’s collection, the first Porsche to ever be badged as a 911 sat just next to it. As a result, both Porsches were roped off and a security guard was posted next to Jerry’s 911 to keep the curious just far enough away (it’s a good bet that most of them didn’t realize they were looking at what was probably the most valuable car at the entire New York show).
The ropes were definitely needed to keep the curious back.
Even more interesting than Jerry’s 911 was when we found out that the GT3 on stage is the only one in existence at the moment. As customer deliveries don’t start until some time this fall, Porsche could potentially still make some refinements before the GT3 goes into full blown production. With only one GT3 making the rounds globally there hasn’t been a ton of press access to the interior of this track monster, at least not that we’re aware of. This particular GT3 is a Euro spec car and thus the US version will look slightly different (most particularly the seats shown in this car are not yet available here in the States).
