We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for almost two years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. In all that time, we’ve published these every other week. Well, enough of you have spoken up that we’re going to try a weekly format, with two of us picking selections, so check back often. This week, thanks to considerable reader feedback, we’ve focused on some more “affordable” Porsches. These include a 924 Turbo that may or may not turn out to be a good buy for someone that likes to get their hands dirty, a reasonably priced 944 S2 Cabriolet, a 550 Spyder recreation worth every penny, ditto on a 356 speedster replica and a well priced 356 C driver. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1981 Porsche 924 Turbo
Finding an “affordable” Porsche can be a bit of a Catch 22. Most inexpensively priced Porsches are that way for a reason. Either they are riddled with mechanical problems or are unloved for one reason or another. This Porsche 924 fits in both categories. For years, the 924 was overlooked by almost all but the lowest level of entry level Porsche buyers. As a result, their low budgets, at times, meant low funds for service and a lot of 924s found themselves neglected and falling apart. Now, as the rising tide of Porsche prices lifts the entry fee for all models, the 924 is experiencing something of a resurgence. The 924 Turbo in this listing is a non-running project car. However, the seller says it ran strong for the better part of his ownership and he only parked it after it started running rough back in 2011. It could be an easy fix, or it could be a can of worms. However, if you’re handy with a wrench, have a reasonable budget for parts and don’t care too much about cosmetics, this could (emphasis on could) be a fun little project car and an interesting autocross candidate (if you can handle the turbo lag).

1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet For Sale
The 944 is another Porsche model that’s seen their values increase with the surge in air-cooled pricing. However, they started from the bottom, so we’re still in “affordable” territory. Will these increases be sustainable for models like the 944? It’s hard to say. However, we’ve always been a fan and we especially like the idea of a cabriolet now that the summer is upon us. The example in this listing seems to be a very honest 2-owner Porsche with just over 84,000 miles on the clock. The current owner has had possession of the car since 1993 so we would think there must be records of some sort, but the listing makes no mention of them. Make an offer 10% to 15% below asking, contingent on a PPI, and if they accept you’ll have what appears to be a very nice summer toy!

Seduction Motorsports 550 Spyder Outlaw For Sale
If you’ve followed us for a while, then you’ve probably seen a Seduction Motorsports 550 Spyder here on FLATSIXES.com, before. We love these recreations. They somehow look a touch more modern while still staying true to the original 550. Their build quality is said to be exceptional and with very approachable pricing, one of these 550s would make a great addition to any Porsche lovers garage. We won’t go into detail here as the listing so thoroughly covers the build with bulleted details and tons of gorgeous photos that speak volumes.

1957 Porsche 356 “Beck” Speedster Replica For Sale
With pricing for a real 356 Speedster well north of $250k they are anything but “affordable”. However, there are alternatives if you’re willing to go the “replica” route. Beck produces some of the better known replicas and this one appears to be executed well. The pricing, however, I’m not so sure about. If the price list on the Beck web-site is up to date, you can get a complete “roller” for about $30k. That means all you need to do is add your engine. If that’s the case, this car is no bargain, but it’s not horribly priced either. It just depends on how well the build was executed and what the power plant looks like. Regardless it’s a contender for this week’s list of affordable options.

1965 Porsche 356 C For Sale
A 356 is still on my bucket list for Porsches to own. Not sure pricing will ever drop low enough again for that to happen, but I continually look. I don’t have to have a pristine, concours edition car. I would be happy with a nice driver or something that might make a strong base to build my very own “outlaw”. Take the 356 in this listing. It appears to be a solid driver, with what little rust it acquired over the years taken care of and straight body lines. It’s only major fault is a non-matching engine block (said to be just a few numbers off from the original). Because of that pricing is more reasonable than you might otherwise expect. It’s still a bit on the high side, but the seller is open to offers. It should be interesting to see where this 356 sells.
