911s have been successfully winning Rallys since the ’60s. However, only recently has the idea of converting a modern, road-going 911 to an off-road, rally aping 911 really gone main stream. I’m not sure who to give credit to for its current popularity, but Leh Keen’s creations have garnered a lot of attention as has the ‘LuftAuto Safari 911‘ built for Luftgekült 3 where it was auctioned off to support The Autumn Leaves Project benefiting pancreatic cancer research.
In the video above we get to watch as LuftAuto’s new owner, Eli Kogan, takes his new toy out for a day of hard driving on small town, rural roads somewhere in Colorado. While not truly “off-roading” it’s nice to see how this well built 911 seamlessly transitions from everyday paved roads to drift inducing gravel and hardpack. I know I wouldn’t do this in my 993, but it makes me want a Safari style 911 that much more.
