Hello FlatSixes.com!
My name is Jason Siu and I am the new Director of Commerce over at Wrecked Media Group. I’m extremely excited to join the team and begin contributing meaningful and useful content across all of our properties. I wanted to take some time today to not only introduce myself, but provide some insight on the content initiatives I have planned for our beloved site. But first, let me give you some boring background on myself!
I began my automotive journalism career with an interest in photography and an ambition of seeing my name printed in a magazine. After a few months of freelancing for Modified Magazine, I officially joined the team as an Editorial Consultant before being named West Coast Editor. During that period, I also contributed to Modified Luxury & Exotics and Modified Mustangs. After those publications sold to Primedia and ultimately Source Interlink, I went on to freelance for several different magazines and authored two books for CarTech Books & SA Design. Somewhere in the midst of all that, I also owned and operated several websites that covered the automotive aftermarket, including tunerzine.com.
Before joining the WMG team, I spent the last 10+ years working at AutoGuide.com, covering news, building project cars, and writing up editorial/opinion pieces before taking on commerce content. If you’re confused as to what commerce content is, it’s basically those “best of” lists that you see scattered all over the Internet, with links to partners that give us a commission if there’s a transaction. Now, before you panic, I’m here to promise that FlatSixes will not be inundated with dozens of nonsense posts that aren’t relevant to you. My goal is to provide useful and helpful shopping advice and product recommendations that truly make your life better. More importantly, any piece of content will be genuine and focus on what you all love the most, Porsches.
Since joining the team, I’ve been quietly going through all of FlatSixes.com’s existing content and I genuinely believe this site is a community. You’re all avid Porsche fans who are passionate about the brand. Ultimately, we need to keep the lights on and feed the editorial staff who provide the excellent content on the site, and one of the best ways to do that is through commerce content. I, like many of you, am not a fan of adding more ads to our websites for the sake of monetization. Instead, if I’m doing my job properly, you’ll find the commerce content helpful and useful. Whether it’s to save you money on your favorite Porsche accessory or finding that perfect holiday gift, we’ll have you covered.
If you have any concerns, feedback, or even content suggestions, please feel free to drop me a note in the comments. I will be reading them and would love to hear from some of you!
