As expected, Porsche has implemented a planned transition within its Executive Board. Jochen Breckner, aged 47, assumes the roles of Finance and IT, while Matthias Becker, 54, oversees Sales and Marketing. The two replace Lutz Meschke, 58, and Detlev von Platen, 61, who are departing the company by mutual agreement. Breckner has previously served as the head of Porsche’s General Secretariat and Corporate Development, whereas Becker was the Head of the Overseas and Emerging Markets region, a division he helped develop into a significant sales component for the company.
Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, expressed satisfaction with the internal appointments, stating, “In appointing Jochen Breckner and Matthias Becker, we are very pleased to have found two excellent successors from within the ranks of Porsche.” He acknowledged the contributions of Meschke and von Platen, highlighting Meschke’s pivotal role in the company’s IPO in 2022 and von Platen’s influence on global market development.
Lutz Meschke’s tenure at Porsche spans 24 years, beginning in 2001 after his previous role at Hugo Boss. Initially responsible for accounting, he became the Board Member for Finance and IT in 2009 and later served as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management. His leadership coincided with significant milestones in Porsche’s history.
Detlev von Platen joined Porsche in 1997, starting as CEO of Porsche France and later becoming President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America in 2008. He was appointed to the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing in 2015 and is recognized for his contributions to the expansion of Porsche’s market, particularly in the United States.
Jochen Breckner has been with Porsche since 2000, progressing through various roles, including assistant to the Chairman of the Executive Board and Head of Controlling for Sales, Marketing, and Financial Services. He has played a key role in managing Porsche’s IPO and enhancing the company’s financial resilience. His successor in the General Secretariat will be Christian Pantel.
Matthias Becker has been part of Porsche AG since 2015, where he has significantly developed the Overseas and Emerging Markets region. His prior experience includes various management positions within the Volkswagen Group, where he worked for brands such as Audi and Škoda.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, noted that both Breckner and Becker possess extensive experience within the company and the broader automotive industry, positioning them well to lead Porsche into the future. He emphasized the effectiveness of structured succession planning and long-term personnel development at Porsche AG.
