Yesterday Porsche released sales number for most of their major markets. Two regions to be highlighted were the Middle East and China. China has always been an important and growing market for Porsche, but this is the first time we can remember seeing a release specifically about the Middle East.
Record Sales in Middle East
According to a press release, Porsche Middle East and Africa saw a 20% growth in 2010 with a total of 6,842 vehicles as compared to 5,694 in the previous year. The Cayenne accounted for more than 50% of the region’s figure coming in at just under 3600 units sold. Second to the Cayenne was the Panamera at 1900 units sold.
Unbroken Growth in China
A total of 14,785 vehicles were sold and delivered to customers in China during 2010. This represents a 62.7% increase over the previous year. Like the Middle East, the Porsche Cayenne was far and away the most popular selling 8,612 units with the Panamera a distant second at 3,833 units.
According to Bernhard Maier, Board Member for Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG, “We can look back on an extremely successful 2010. The new sales record clearly illustrates the excellent position of Porsche on the growing Chinese market. In future we will offer an even greater range of products and services. In addition, we will focus even more closely on our customers’ needs and therefore underline the position of Porsche as the world’s most successful sports car manufacturer. For this purpose, we will almost triple the size of our dealer network in China in the next few years.”
