We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for about a year and a half now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. For the past 18-months we’ve published these every other week. Well, enough of you have spoken up that we’re going to try a weekly format, with two of us picking selections, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including an affordable but potentially risky entry into 911 ownership, the ultimate toy hauler, a turbo that fits the family, a mid-engine coupe getting close to the bottom of its depreciation curve and a summer cruising opportunity. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet For Sale
996 Turbos are all the rage right now (amazing performance at relatively low pricing) and their upward trending prices reflect it. However, prices for normally aspirated 996s, especially the earlier ones, are at or near rock bottom. Take the base Carrera Cabriolet in this ad. Yes, the mileage of this 996 has broken 90k, but we’ve spoken to many owners who have twice that mileage, and then some, on their 996s. the big mystery here is service history? Has any potential IMS issue been fixed? Have major services been done on time? What about oil changes? While, in our opinion, the IMS issue is overblown, it still cant’ be discounted. So, if you’re going to consider this car a quality PPI is a must and if you want complete piece of mind budget a few thousand for to drop the transmissionand permanently repair the IMS while you’re at it.

2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo For Sale
We love our Cayenne. We’re six years into ownership of it and have racked up nearly 135,000 worry free miles. So far, it’s never failed us other than a flat tire on a long road trip and a strange CEL a few months ago that went away and never came back. We’re now on the hunt for its replacement in the next 12 months or so and we’re thinking we may want to take advantage of the depreciation of the 2nd and 3rd generation Cayennes. With the Turbo, you get huge horsepower and performance at an excellent price. When you throw in the fact that the Turbo comes standard with most of the options you would pay for in the other models, you’re now talking value. This example is showing just under 46,000 miles on the clock with a fair asking price of $35,900 (we think $32k to $33k is probably more realistic). Once again, you’re going to want to check for service history and make sure there were no accidents or problems found on the title. Definitely invest in a quality PPI as repairs can get expensive quickly on the Turbo. With that said, working on these for routine maintenance is fairly easy and there are lots and lots of DIY guides for almost all repairs.

3. 2011 Porsche Panamera Turbo For Sale
Another example where depreciation be your friend! As optioned, this Panamera Turbo had an MSRP of $172,000. The “Buy it Now” price is currently at $59,900 and who knows if there’s room in that. Black on Black with the 20″ Spyder wheels and this is one fast and elegant family mobile or everyday sedan. This is an all wheel drive sedan that can go from zero to 60 in 3.5 seconds and outperforms almost all purpose built sport cars of its generation. If the Panamera’s design doesn’t bother you, we actually like it, then this is a great option if you’re considering a Mercedes S class, BMW 7 series or hell, even a Corvette. The Panamera Turbo is just that amazing of a piece of machinery. If we had room in our budget and garage, this would be right next to the 993 as my daily driver.

4. 2007 Porsche Cayman For Sale
While Porsche has continued to improve on the Cayman through with a 2nd generation 9987, the 981 and now a 718, the original 987.1 is no slouch. Pictured here is a 2 owner 2007 Cayman S with just 43,000 miles. When we first test drove the Cayman way back in 2006 we were surprised at how much we liked it. It took a bit for its higher rear hips to grow on us, but they did. From a performance standpoint you can’t beat the mid-engine layout and the rigidity of the coupe. This example appears to be well kept and the write-up intimates at a good service history.

5. 2003 Porsche Boxster S
So you’ve probably seen a lot of Boxsters here lately. That’s because we’ve been shopping for one for a while now. We pulled the trigger on a 2002 just this past weekend and we’re waiting for it to arrive. Why did we buy it? Simple, it’s some of the most fun you can have for the least amount of money. With these cars, you want one like the 2003 listed here. With only 1 owner and a full service history you know exactly what you’re getting. Invest in a PPI, take a road trip to go pick up your new Boxster and enjoy a summer of top down driving!
