In just 10 short years the production line at Porsche’s plant in Leipzig produced their 500,000th Porsche. To mark the celebration, Porsche chose a white Cayenne S that was converted into a “command vehichle for the Leipzig fire brigade. This isn’t the first Cayenne Porsche emergency vehicle to be produced (and I’m sure it won’t be the last either).
Leipzig will continue to grow as production of the Porsche Macan is scheduled to start at the end of 2013. Porsche planse to develop their Leipzig facility into a self-contained plant with its own body assembly line and paint shop. The total investment is expected to be more than 500 million euro and create at least 1,000 new jobs.
