Porsche Car Connect (PCC) first came on the scene in 2014 with the Panamera S E Hybrid. Since then PCC is standard on all Porsche hybrid models and, as of model year 2015, optional on all other four-door models. Until now, if you were fortunate enough to have a model that supports PCC, your options were limited to your iPhone or Android based device. Now, with the forthcoming Apple Watch, and Porsche’s latest software update, you can get the same functionality on your wrist.
What Can You Do With Your Apple Watch And PCC?
Depending on where you live, what model you own and the options installed there are three different services available: Porsche Vehicle Track Services (PVTS), Remote Services and E-Mobility Services. These three combine to let you do things like find your car in the mall parking lot (or anywhere else for that matter), check to see if you remembered to lock the doors (and lock them remotely if you didn’t), schedule a charging timer and more, all from the convenience of your wrist.
What’s It Cost?
Once you’ve both the Porsche and the Apple Watch, the app itself is free. From there, you get a 6 month free subscription to PVTS and Remote Services and, for Hybrid Porsches, a 5-year free subscription to E-Mobility Services. After the free period there are subscription fees for each service available in 6-month, 12-month and 24-month blocks with discounts for combined packages. For full pricing details you can view this the “Price & Terms” tab on the PCC site (we’ve linked to the U.S. site. Prices may be different in other parts of the world).
