Porsche's returning to the Canadian International Auto Show for the first time since 2008. In addition to the Canadian premiere of the Macan, the all-new 911 GT3 Cup car makes its debut in the North American Auto Show circuit.
The new GT3 Cup car is powered by a 3.8-litre horizontally-opposed six cylinder engine. It generates 460 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, surpassing the predecessor by 10 hp. A six-speed dog-type gearbox developed by Porsche Motorsport which is operated via steering wheel mounted shift paddles – for the first time in a Porsche brand trophy race car – transmits the power to the rear axle.
The width of the Michelin race slicks was increased by two centimeters to 27 centimeters at the front and by 10 millimeters to 31 centimeters at the rear axle. The newly developed braking system consists of 380 millimeter slotted and inner-vented front steel brake rotors decelerated by six-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear axle features a four-piston version. Click the "X" in the top left corner when you're done viewing the pictures to return to this post.
The new GT3 Cup will compete in the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin series starting May 17th at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Check out the full schedule here.
