After a hard day at the office, one of my favorite things to do is go for a drive in my Porsche. In fact, sometimes I walk out to the garage just to look at them. It’s a pinch me moment. I can’t believe I’m fortunate enough to drive these magnificent pieces of engineering whenever I want. Even better, for me, is that my job revolves around Porsche: publishing this blog. What about Porsche employees? For many, landing a job in Stuttgart, Atlanta or any of their other global locations is the culmination of a lifelong dream. An even though the company consistently ranks as one of the best places to work, they still need to compete for talent.
“We need skilled employees, particularly when it comes to tackling challenges of the future such as the Mission E, when we are in direct competition with other automotive manufacturers, suppliers or IT companies”, says Member of the Executive Board for Human Resources Andreas Haffner.
Tour of the Porsche Company
As part of Porsche’s strategy to find and recruit the best talent, Porsche recently produced a new film where the employees are the focus vs. the cars. The film depicts a day-in-the-life of a Porsche employee from their perspective. Filmed in both Weissach and Zuffenhausen over four days, it includes the design studio, the test area, the new training center and the manufacturing department.
While the graphics and and employee descriptions are in German, the video translates quite easily. I especially like the view of the Mission E interior. It gives you a real sense for how futuristic Porsche’s first all electric car will be. All-in-all, regardless of the role, working at Porsche looks like a great opportunity!
