In this latest video collaboration between Jeff and film maker Will Roegge, Jeff takes his 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Rally car back to Big Sky Ranch; the place he first put it through its paces before going on to take his first class win with it at Pikes Peak in 1994. The video pretty much speaks for itself.
A Little History
Vic Elford was the first to give Porsche a taste of Rallying in an official sense (when Porsche gave him a 911 to enter in the ’67 Rally Corsica). Since then, just about every model you can think of has been entered into a Rally of one type or another, with this 911 SC East African Safari Rally car being one of the more well known.
Today, with the ongoing surge in popularity of Rally like Porsches – made popular by the Safari 911s from “The Keen Project” and others – people new to the world of Porsche can almost be excused if they don’t know their true origin or history. As Jeff Zwart tells it, people have been Rallying Porsches since they first hit the road back in the 50’s. And who better than Jeff to know that history?
Who Is Jeff Zwart
If you’re reading this site, you already know Jeff. You know he directs commercials, is a photographer and author, business man, entrepreneur and legendary Rally driver in his own right. In fact, there’s a good chance you’ve met him in person. He embodies the Porsche lifestyle and is one of the nicest, most giving people we know in the world of Porsche. We’ve run into Jeff at Porsche events all over and we always see him taking time to shake hands and speak with total strangers who share a simple bond, Porsche.
From Pikes Peak to the Panama/Alaska FIA Rally and beyond, Jeff has run and won a huge number of Rally races, almost all of them behind the wheel of one kind of Porsche or another, including 8 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Class wins.
