Last week, when Dr. Oliver Blume was named as Porsche AG’s new Chairman, we learned that Detlev von Platen, Porsche Cars North America’s (PCNA) CEO for the last seven years, would be taking a new role in Germany as the member of the Porsche Executive Board for Sales and Marketing. With Detlev’s promotion came a big hole in Porsche’s largest single market. Today, that hole was filled when Porsche announce that Klaus Zellmer (48) was appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of (PCNA) effective November 1, 2015.
Like von Platen before him, Zellmer comes from the ranks of the Porsche sales organization. It was only the middle of last year that graduate economist assumed the head of Overseas Region and Growth Markets (with responsibility for Porsche subsidiaries in Australia, Japan, Korea and the regional offices in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa). Prior to that Zellmer was the Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Germany In his new function as PNCA’s CEO Zellmer will report to von Platen who takes over as Chairman of the PCNA Board of Directors.
