For one, simple, hassle-free monthly fee, fans of the marque can now experience the entire model range with Porsche’s new Passport program. Using Atlanta as a hub for this pilot program, Porsche Passport is a month-to-month plan that offers subscribers to the service their choice of Porsche models delivered to their door at the push of a button. It’s like owning nearly every Porsche model for one simple monthly fee.
Here’s How it Works
Working in conjunction with Clutch Technologies, LLC, Porsche Passport will provide white glove vehicle delivery in metro Atlanta via a mobile app and two membership plans – “Launch” and “Accelerate”:
- Launch: Includes on-demand access to eight model variants such as the 718 Boxster and Cayman S, as well as the Macan S and Cayenne, for a monthly fee of $2,000.
- Accelerate: Includes on-demand access to 22 model variants such as the Porsche 911 Carrera S, the Panamera 4S sports sedan, the Macan GTS and Cayenne S E-Hybrid SUVs, in addition to the vehicles offered in the “Launch” package, for a monthly fee of $3,000.
Is it Worth It?
At first pass I thought the fee was kind of steep. However, after reading through the fine print and realizing what’s included (unlimited mileage, insurance, and taxes), it’s actually a bargain, relatively speaking. Considering how a base Carrera’s monthly lease payment begins at roughly $1,000 (and that’s with a big down payment, very limited mileage and doesn’t include taxes or insurance), the Porsche Passport sounds very intriguing indeed.
Assuming no glitches and smooth delivery of the cars on demand, Porsche’s new Passport program offers enthusiasts access to nearly the entire lineup and can, like an elaborate multi-course meal, give a taste of what each model offers. Less concerned with the costs of ownership but focused on providing a worry-free scenario where a driver can establish a relationship with their vehicle, this program may well catch on in a future in which car ownership is expected to decline.
