How Much Would You Pay for the “Perfect” Porsche 993?

August 8, 2012 by Pepper Girl 2 Comments

UPDATE: The auction has ended an the high bid was $120,300. It remains to be seen if the deal will be consummated.

That's the question that high bidder for the 1998 Porsche 993 C2S will need to answer in order to drive home with this low mileage example available for sale on eBay. As of the time we're writing this post there are 48 bids and the price is up to a stunning $110,100 with more than two days remaining before the auction ends.

What started as an innocent thread on Rennlist (or not so innocent according to some) morphed into an eBay auction that, if it goes through, could possibly result in the highest price ever being paid for a normally aspirated, non-celebrity owned, Porsche 993.

Porsche 993 Pricing on the Rise

If you look at some of the top air-cooled Porsche sellers, guys like Richard Sloan and Michael Willhoit (both of whom sponsor this site) you can easily see that pricing for low-mileage and one-off examples of the 993 (as well as most other 993s in general) is on the rise. Even knowing that, does it justify this kind of pricing? Hard to say. Perhaps it's even harder to say if this is a "perfect" Porsche. For someone it just might be. At the end of the day, a Porsche (or anything else for that matter) is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. We'll update you in the days ahead on what happens with the auction. If you would like to track it yourself, you can view it here on eBay.

Leaves me speechless, but a great color choice!

    Chuck,

According to another thread on Rennlist, it’s the color that’s partially driving the price.
