Magnus Walker, one of the most prolific Porsche fanatics in the world today, has recently given a TED talk at UCLA. His topic, “go with your gut feeling”, is something of a mantra for the long-haired be-leathered ex-pat. His life has been a series of from-the-gut actions, and they’ve all seemed to work out in the end for him, even though he’s had a number of down periods in his life.
If you don’t know the Magnus Walker story, then you owe it to yourself to watch his TED talk. His ‘pulled myself up by the bootstraps’ tale wanders from a primary school dropout to where he is now, and how his decisions and actions helped to get him into his current position. Some interesting spur of the moment decisions have helped Magnus to become one of the world’s most recognizable Porsche collectors, and he attributes a lot of his success to making those quick gut feeling reactions, as well as being in the right place at the right time.
By the end of the talk, you’ll probably gain a new appreciation for Magnus’ come up from nothing story, and if his passion doesn’t get you fired up, then you must surely be heartless. I’ve personally never met anyone with more passion for the Porsche brand, nor have I met a more genuinely positive person in my life. He’ll exude positivity as he tells you ‘get out and drive’, ‘go with your gut’, ‘pedal to the metal’, and ‘CheeRS’.
