We’ve been compiling some amazing Porsche models on eBay for over two years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. We recently started publishing our picks once a week instead of our prior bi-weekly schedule, in an effort to bring you more exciting Porsche auction action. Check back often for different cars! This week we have a good diversity of selections. Since Porsche has reintroduced the 4-cylinder to their sports car lineup, we found the best 4-cylinder Porsches available for sale today. We’ve got a 914, a 912, a 912E, a 924 and a 944 to remind you that Porsche has a history of excellent smallbore sports cars. Keep in mind, some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. 1976 Porsche 912E For Sale
It’s mind boggling that the 912E has inflated values so much in the last few years, as there was a time when a car like this was not particularly valuable, desirable, or collectible. These days, people have realized that any Porsche model built in such low numbers is becoming valuable, and are snatching them up for collections. This used to be the car you would get when you had no other options for an aircooled 911-shaped car, but they’re rapidly approaching collector status. Get one while you still can!

2. 1970 Porsche 914 1.7 For Sale
In similar fashion to the 912E, the 914 was an unloved Porsche model for a lot of years. That is all changing now. People are realizing that the 914 was far ahead of its time, and out-handled most anything built in it’s era. The four-cylinder model isn’t particularly quick, but it is one of the best driving experiences that Porsche has ever built. Go drive one, and you’ll see the appeal immediately.

3. 1982 Porsche 924 For Sale
I recently got behind the wheel of a 924 again for the first time in a long time, and I remember now why they are so great. Much like the 944 that supplanted it, the 924 is an incredibly balanced machine with particularly good driving dynamics. It’s comfortable, low, lithe, and sporty. Similar to all of the cars in this list, it’s far from quick, and you have to be very deliberate about your actions, deciding far ahead of time when to brake and where to place your wheels. It’s an involved and interesting drive that is sure to please anyone that gives it a shot.

4. 1984 Porsche 944 For Sale
The 944 is everything that was great about the 924, but with a wider track, improved suspension, and a more powerful and higher-revving engine. The early-dash 944s are simple and easy to work on, requiring very little in the way of maintenance. This is an excellent car for a first-time Porsche buyer, and a car with this few miles on the odometer is an interesting case. For one thing, this is probably among the nicer 944s available for sale anywhere in the world. I would recommend, however, for anyone buying this to change the timing belt, as the rubber is sure to be aged and cracked at this point, and you wouldn’t want to destroy a glorious low-mile engine like this one with neglect. Get the work done immediately, and this will be an excellent weekend driver and show-level car for years to come.

5. 1967 Porsche 912 For Sale
The original 912 is among my favorite Porsche models. Yes, it does not have as much power as its 911 counterparts of the time, but the lighter weight and improved balance of the smaller engine is a welcome change. It is more difficult to keep this car ‘on boil’, but the prize of an excellent drive is worth the effort involved. Some 912 owners prefer to think of this car as an extension of the 356 with an improved chassis and better handling characteristics, rather than a de-tuned 911. I agree with this sentiment, and it makes the car all the better for it. This tangerine beauty deserves someone who will care for it deeply, and drive it often. What a gorgeous example of one of Porsche’s greatest entry level cars.
