We’ve been compiling some amazing Porsche models on eBay for over two years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. This week we have a good diversity of selections including my an almost fully depreciated 997 Carrera Cabriolet, two 944s (one normal aspirated, one with forced induction), a 914-6 that comes with two engines including the original, and Grand-Am era 911 cup car with a winning provenance. Keep in mind, some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. 2007 Porsche 911 For Sale
It’s amazing what depreciation does for your purchasing power. Granted, the 911 in question is 10-years old, but when sold new it had a sticker price north of $92K. Now, nearly 10-years later, after having traveled less than 40,000 miles, this 2007 911 Carrera Cabriolet can be yours for less than One Dollar per mile travelled. Perhaps much less. If the depreciation of the early 997s continues, they will become much better bargains than the 996 is currently.

2. 1987 Porsche 944 S For Sale
I liked this 944 S for its rare color and low mileage. However, I’m a little dubious about the description, but that could just be my natural cynicism. The seller claims this 944 was originally purchased by a “collector” who intended to buy it and hold it as an investment and apparently did so sight unseen (first red flag in my opinion). Then, after finally seeing the car in person, decided its condition didn’t warrant that of a “collector car” (I would have though the mileage would have done that from the start). Anyway, cynicism aside, the seller does go on to document the current condition of the 944 fairly well in pictures and in their description. Assuming the car checks out (it might need to have the timing belt replaced) the current pricing seems better than fair given today’s market conditions.

3. Canary Yellow 914-6 For Sale
Presented by the seller as a rust-free example with its original floors and factory undercoating this 914-6 has quite a bit going for it. Said to have just come out of long-term ownership in Texas (California before that) the 914 comes complete with its original, numbers matching motor and transmission (both out of the car at the moment). As a bonus, the engine currently in the car is a correct 914-6 version so you’re getting two for the price of one. Be sure to do your dilligence and check out the status of the original motor and transmission, but this looks to be a nice example at a reasonable price point.

4. Beautiful in Battered Brown 1987 944 Turbo For Sale
I’m a big fan of no reserve auctions and that’s what’s taking place on eBay for this 1987 944 Turbo. While composing this, the bid stands at $6,200 with a decent amount of activity. That’s not surprising given the fact that this Turbo powered 944 seems to be in excellent mechanical shape with a reasonable service history and only in need of some cosmetic attention. The 951 variant of the 944 is a blast to drive and easy to own and maintain. Depending on where final bidding ends on this Porsche, this could make someone a very nice driver or track toy.

5. 2006 Porsche Grand Am Cup Car For Sale
Originally constructed for the old Grand Am Cup series, this 911 ran in the GS Class. With more than $250,000 in “documented construction and development costs” this particular Porsche won the overall Grand Am Cup race at Laguna Seca in 2006 and qualified on the outside pole at 2006 Grand Am Mid Ohio race. Granted, that performance is driver dependent, but the car, engine and set-up had a lot to do with it. Since its time in Grand Am, this 911 has had the engine and gearbox completely rebuilt and the seller says they have zero hours since completed. With a “Buy it Now” price under $40k and the seller wiling to listen to offers, this will make a nice club racer for someone.
