We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for over a year now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. There is some great new stuff every two weeks, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including an early 356 restoration candidate, a nice restomod 911 SC, a wild widebody vintage racing 911S, a rare turbo terror, and a beautifully kept 987 Boxster Spyder. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. 1952 Porsche 356 Split Window Cabriolet For Sale
I humbly submit to you one of Porsche’s most gorgeous designs. The early 356 Pre-A was one of the best looking cars of its time, especially in Cabriolet guise. With its low-mounted headlamps and unadorned bodywork, this was a pure and simple looking sports car, almost purposeful. This was how the 356 was designed to look, and everything that came after was a modification on that original purity. As regulations required larger bumpers and raised fenders to accommodate higher headlamps, the bodies morphed further from their original design, and that’s what makes the earliest models so special. This split-window cabriolet could be, and deserves to be, properly restored. That said, this car is going to need a patient and wealthy owner to return it to where it should be. With a listed Buy-It-Now price of $675,000, I’m not sure this car is worth all that money. I know what I said, and I know early cars, especially open-top ones, are desirable, and valuable, but are they this valuable? A proper restoration will have the best part of a million dollars into this car. Buyer beware.

2. 1969 Porsche 911S Vintage Racing Car For Sale
If you’re looking for an interesting 911 with some history and a *ahem* unique appearance, then this might be the car for you. This car started its racing career, or at least the documented part of it anyway, in C Prepared and D Prepared with Lee Johnson behind the wheel. In the mid 1980s, the car was converted to GT-3 specification and continued kicking backside. Mostly Northeastern region SCCA events, both regional and national levels, were driven with this Porsche from about 1980 through 1989. Out of the 46 regional events that the Porsche competed in, it took the victory 31 times, placed 2nd six times, and placed 3rd four times. The car also won three NARRC Runoff Finals, and competed in 8 National races (to varying degrees of success). That’s a pretty darn good record, if you ask me.
While the competition has likely moved on, and this Porsche wouldn’t be even remotely competitive today, it might make for an interesting addition to a few vintage racing events around the country. As the car was retired in 1989, it just sort of floated around the shop for a few years before the current owner purchased it from Lee Johnson. His intention, indeed, was to take it vintage racing after a thorough going-through. Unfortunately, health issues got in the way.

3. 1980 Porsche 911 SC Coupe For Sale
This Porsche is described as a nice condition barn find with some modifications done in-period. Personally, I like it, so I included it. This is another Porsche that I’m not sure is worth the requested money ($45,000 in this case), but maybe you do. This SC Coupe, at some point in the 80s, received a full set of 930 flares, welded steel original factory parts, which is the way it should be done, in my humble opinion. The addition of the Martini graphics package and the Martini steering wheel only help to cement this as a great start for a project. It does not appear to need any body work to be a great driver, but the car is said to need a lot of interior work. Again, this could cost more than the car is worth to restore. Interior redo work can be quite expensive.

4. 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 For Sale
The GT2 will always be a special car. There were very few produced, and many of them, the ones that aren’t wrecked that is, have been kept in very nice condition. This Porsche has only traveled 29,000 miles, for example, and from the pictures, looks clean enough to eat off of. A beautiful machine, indeed. This car was, and remains, one of the most demanding driving cars Porsche has ever produced. No stability control, no traction control, just your finger tips, toes, and hind-end in the seat to tell you what the car is doing. With a 996 Turbo hovering in the $50,000 range, are we sure that a GT2 is worth 2 and a half times as much? The listing states that only 24 examples were imported to the US in 2004, so its significantly more rare than a Turbo, or even a GT3. If you’re looking for a nice example, and you’re willing to pay for quality, this could be the one you’re looking for.

5. 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder For Sale
This Porsche was included just for me. I have absolutely loved the 987 Boxster Spyder since it was introduced a few years ago. Every time I come across a nice looking example with the right options, I like to include it. While its Cayman R sibling has retained its value a little better, usually hovering in the low $60K range, the Boxster Spyder has fallen just a little bit further to the low $50K range. Personally, I’d rather have the Boxster with its quirky and awkward tentpole convertible top. With the new Boxster Spyder hitting showrooms, some people will likely just opt for the new more powerful version, and hopefully that will drive prices down further. A few more years and I might be picking up a nice example of this most pure of open-top driving experiences on the cheap. This example only has 10,000 miles on it, and many of them were well cared for. It’s hard to find a haggard and ragged Boxster Spyder. You won’t want it anyway…
