By now most of you are familiar with Michael Mauer and his work with Porsche’s design DNA. The work that he, and his team of more than 100 designers, model builders and CAD-specialists, engage in defines Porsche’s identity. His designs are both polarizing (the Panamera) and elegant (the 991). Mauer became head of Porsche’s design department in 2004. Now, 12 years later, his pen has distinctly shaped every model in Porsche’s lineup giving each a distinct, 21st century look. As Porsche looks to the future, his work is again at the forefront with the Mission E, Porsche’s first all electric concept. The short film below gives us a glimpse at how Mauer and team walk the fine line between established Porsche identity and progress that determines both the success of a new model as well as the brand’s worldwide perception.
