Lots of times, the Porsche comparisons we see online don’t make sense. Recently, however, Autocar put a Porsche 718 S head-to-head against a Lotus Elise Cup 250. While the two cars have a 400 kilo difference in weight (the Boxster weighs 1355 kilos to the Lotus’ 921 kilos) their weight to power ratio is nearly identical (Boxster = 1355 kilos / 350 horsepower = 3.87 kilos/8.52 lbs per horsepower. Lotus = 921 kilos / 240 horsepower = 3.79 kilos/8.44 lbs per horsepower). Combine the fact that they’re both roadsters with very similar price points (the Boxster has a starting price of £ 43,661.00 and the Lotus has a starting price of £45,600) and you have the makings of a pretty good head-to-head. Watch for yourself and decide if you agree with Autocar’s conclusion.
Oh, in case you’re wondering why we’re using Kilograms and Pound Sterling prices for our comparisons, it’s simply because the Lotus Elise Cup 250 isn’t available here in the U.S.
