Singer Vehicle Design has been “reimagining” some of the most beautiful Porsches in the world for a few years now, using a gorgeous piece of artwork built by Porsche and taking it to another level. Their machines have been driving around my dreams since the first time I saw one. The quilted leather, the amazing paint, and the high-output big-bore motor all add up to what might just be the perfect Porsche. Now, after a couple of dozen Singer coupes have slowly been metered out into the world, they’re throwing down a Royal Flush new model debut by offering up a Targa. Not only that, but they’re doing it with style, showing their new model off in dramatic fashion at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. With any luck, there will be video of the new Porsche making a run up the hill.
Just over a week ago, I was on a trip to Los Angeles [much more on that coming soon] where I stopped in to pay a visit to Singer, and got to lay my own eyes on this wonderful 911. You may remembered we confirmed it’s existence last year and there it was in front of me. While the new Targa was still getting its finishing touches applied, it was obvious that this Singer was going to be as beautiful as any other.
While I was visiting, I asked if I might be able to take a few photographs of the car, but was politely told that the car didn’t exist yet, or at least as far as the public was concerned. The shots that they’ve released are only a little part of the overall picture, and once it’s shown off in all its stunning glory, you’ll all be calling your respective financial advisers to discuss cashing in your 401Ks. This Singer is the real deal, and I guarantee you’ll want one.
