Porsche has more than 500 cars in their collection of which about 80 are present in the museum at any given time. The rest remain stored in a hidden, “secret” warehouse a few blocks away. The problem is it doesn’t seem to be much of a “secret” anymore. Back in 2012 Porsche released a video entitled “Porsche Museum Secrets“. It gave us our first look into some of the incredible prototypes, cutaways and test mules that rotate in and out of the museum.
Immediately following Porsche’s Museum Secrets was a 2nd video showcasing a Bulletproof 996 and a Convertible Porsche 928. That’s it above.
Since then, Porsche has slowly released additional videos featuring various cars from this “secret” storage area including a 965 V-8 Prototype, the first 911 to get off-road rally treatment, an aerodynamic concept that foreshadowed the 964 and 993 models, and so on. There was even a quiz designed to test your knowledge about all these “secret” Porsches and quite frankly it was fascinating. We were seeing Porsche’s we had only heard about.
Fast Forward To Today
What was once secret now seems to be common knowledge. Many a web-site have visited and documented the incredible Porsche just sitting under tarps waiting to be admired. Autoblog was there in January, I’m fairly certain /DRIVE did a video on it, and now CarrBuzz.com just released this video below.
It seems like Porsche’s “secrets” aren’t so secret anymore and I for one couldn’t be more happy. Just let me in when I come to visit, please!
