In a new video segment from the television program Mobil 1: The Grid, Le Mans proponent and the enthusiastic voice of Radio Le Mans, Mr. John Hindhaugh, guides us through Porsche’s pre-race preparation, and some of the 919 Hybrid technology in play at Le Mans. The video provides an overview of the 919 Hybrid’s unique technological configuration, with focus on the front wheel KERS, and the turbocharger system’s ERS recuperation components. Featuring interviews with technical director Alexander Hitzinger, as well as Drivers Brendon Hartley, Timo Bernhard, and Marc Lieb. It is a short video, but there is a lot of information to be gleaned from watching it 2 or even 3 times.
Le Mans is now less than a week away, and Porsche have been preparing for about 4 years for the 919’s debut at the circuit de la Sarthe. As they say, it’s time to “run what you brung”, and we can all sit and hope that they “brung” enough. Toyota and Audi are going to be stiff competition, but if anyone can take them down in their debut year, it’ll be Porsche.
