Porsche Penske Motorsport arrives at Watkins Glen International on June 22 leading every IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship standings after four victories in five races. The six-hour classic—the third of four IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events—will see two factory Porsche 963 hybrids entered in the top-tier GTP class, with customer squads JDC-Miller MotorSports and Proton Competition fielding two more examples.
Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy share the No. 7 car, while Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet drive the No. 6. The pairings sit first and second in the drivers’ championship. Porsche swept first and third at “The Glen” last year, and team bosses say recent tests on the hard-compound Michelin tire give them confidence of a repeat.

Watkins Glen’s 3.45-mile layout is the fastest on the IMSA calendar, with GTP machines averaging more than 132 mph. Vice president of Porsche Motorsport Thomas Laudenbach called the track “perfect” for the 653-horsepower prototype, noting momentum from a strong Le Mans showing.
In GTD Pro, AO Racing’s crowd-favorite neon-green Porsche 911 GT3 R—nicknamed “Rexy”—returns with Klaus Bachler and Laurin Heinrich after class wins at Sebring and Laguna Seca. Wright Motorsports fields a sister 911 in GTD for Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer, and Tom Sargent, currently second in the Michelin Endurance Cup standings.
Sunday’s race is round six of the 2025 season and begins at 3:30 p.m. ET, following morning practice and qualifying. Live coverage airs on the CW Network, Motor Racing Network radio, and SiriusXM Channel 90.
