If you think back to early November, we reported that legendary California Porsche shop Benton Performance suffered a massive shop fire that cost nearly their entire store of spare parts. Wheels, engines, entire chassis went up in smoke. But John Benton is never one to sit around and mope. Once the fire had been put out he and his crew got to work getting the place right again and getting back to the business of caring for customer cars. Luckily the fire didn’t spread to the main shop and they were still able to get some good quality work done.
But this is the Porsche community. We don’t let our brothers and sisters suffer alone. In comes Felix Holst, a famed automotive artist, to throw Benton a bit of help. He painted this gorgeous 911 ST in acrylic on a 40″ by 60″ massive canvas and offered it up to auction in order for Benton to get a little charity from the community. The painting is up on Bring A Trailer right now if you want to bid on it, and you should. All proceeds from the sale, including the 5% buyer’s fee, will go to help the rebuilding efforts at Benton Performance.
If you’ve ever met John, or even if you haven’t and you appreciate the work that they do at Benton, and have a spare few thousand dollars to throw at this totally awesome painting, maybe get to it. There is only one day left on the auction, so you’d better get hopping!
