Innovation moves faster in competition. Both Porsche and Michelin have been involved in competition from nearly the very beginning. Michelin was founded in 1889, and by 1891 they were racing. The first Porsche 356 hit the road in June of 1948, and went racing almost immediately after. Porsche and Michelin first partnered up, officially, in 1961. Porsche chose to honor their long-term partners earlier this week with a short video celebrating their long cooperation.
Porsche’s two most recent Le Mans wins have been on Michelin tires, and Michelin’s tires are available for almost all current Porsche production cars and are worn on racing cars in Porsche’s one-make series. Michelin’s tires even served to tame the infamous Carrera GT. The new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s will launch soon with two sizes in Porsche’s N-specification. We look forward to enjoying the continued fruits of Porsche and Michelin’s partnership for years to come.
