In this new video from the Brit glossy rag EVO, vaunted racer-cum-journalist Tiff Needell debates the merits of the new Porsche Targa 4S. The newest bodystyle of 991 offers an excellently framed view of open-air motoring, but that comes at a cost. Is the Targa 4S a good value? How does the extra weight of the mechanically convoluted top mechanism affect the 991’s sublime performance?
Ride along with Tiff as he does his best stereotypically British “It wasn’t made here” impression. Regardless of the reason behind it, Mr. Needell’s review is an utterly pragmatic one, and in the world of Porsche, do we really have time for pragmatism? Buying a Targa 4S is about emotion, about getting out and driving, and about getting your heart pumping. Is it noisy? Maybe. Is it heavier? Definitely. Is it the most gorgeous open-topped 911 in the last twenty years? You bet it is!
