For all of the eccentric and eclectic Porsche collectors and enthusiasts out there, we’ve decided that it is about time someone aggregated the best of the best that eBay has to offer in the Porsches-for-sale department. Earlier today, we showed you a Rauh-Welt Los Angeles car that we’d found on eBay, and now we’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for folks to purchase. The list includes rarities like the 964 Speedster, and a Turbo Targa, a beautiful driver 997 C2S, possibly the nicest 928 in the world, and the ANDIAL GT3 Cup car we featured a few weeks ago. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. Triple Black 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster (964) For Sale
The 911 Speedsters have always been something of an anomaly to me. They are fetching, for sure, and as rare as the proverbial hen’s tooth, but I’ve never really gotten what they were for. The original 356 speedster was essentially a stripped down car that could serve well as a track prepared car, punching well above its weight class. These 911 Speedsters, however, were seemingly built as not much more than a chop-top Carrera. The lower windshield, to me, has never been worth the premium, especially when 90% of the driving experience can be had in a standard 964 cabriolet for about 1/8th the price. That said, if it ‘floats your boat’, then more power to you.
This particular car is extremely well kept, and looks almost factory new from the photographs. It has accrued only 19,000 miles, and the current owner has only racked up 1500 miles since purchasing it in 2007. At only about 190 miles per year, that’s probably the saddest part of this listing. Porsche builds cars that are intended to be driven, so please don’t let them sit idly in your garage. Hopefully whoever buys this car will get the poor thing out for a few long haul trips.

2. One of only 49 US Market 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Targas For Sale
Oh the Turbo Targa! If you want to talk about a car that doesn’t make a lick of sense, this is it. And yet, for some strange reason, I find myself constantly lusting after one. Significantly rarer than that already-rare 930 Cabriolet, this is one of the most unique and difficult to find open-air cars that Porsche has ever made. What better way to hear that big turbo spool up than to roll the windows down and take out the top on a sunny summer afternoon? I would probably find myself accelerating and coasting ad infinitum just to hear that glorious wooosh over and over again. This car is a powerful motor and a notoriously flexy chassis, so it makes sense that you would need a deft hand on the wheel, and a judicious foot on the throttle to keep it under control. Of all the cars ever made, this is one I’d probably most like to own, at the very least its in my top ten. I’ve wanted one for ages, but they just keep going up in value. Maybe one day.

3. Gorgeous In Green 2009 Porsche Carrera 2S PDK (997) For Sale
In what seems to me to be one of the bargains of the century, this late 997 Carrera S has depreciated so much over the last 6 years that you can now get it for a little over half what it sold for new. In 2009, this car retailed for almost exactly 100,000 dollars, and now the buy-it-now price is a mere $55,000. Is it half as good of a car as it was in 2009? No way. When the argument flips to what you could buy for that same money, I have to think that I’d be hard pressed to choose a new base Cayman over this lovely 997. Would I rather have a 991 Carrera S? Dollars to doughnuts I would, its better in every way. But, it’s twice as much money, and not twice as good.
The best part of this car, to me, is the color combination. Porsche Racing Green Metallic over a tan interior with black Carrera S wheels, it all just flows together so well. Perhaps I get my love of that combination from my background in little British cars, because BRG over biscuit looks good on everything.

4. Well Preserved 1985 Porsche 928S For Sale
If all 928s were kept in this kind of condition, there probably wouldn’t be such a disparaging public opinion of the cars. 928s are glorious cars, and were among the best cars in the world when new. Unfortunate then that many of them have been allowed to decay and age to something less than awesome.
By the looks of the photographs, this car truly is the ‘classic’ that it is being described as. All of the leather looks fantastic, the paint seems to shine like it was put on yesterday, and every inch of it is spotless. This is no spring chicken, and certainly no garage queen either, as it’s been driven 85,000 miles since 1985, which indicates regular use at 3,000 miles per year. There is no mention of service history or receipts, but if I were to purchase a car like this, I’d want to have some indication of a recent timing belt and water pump service.

5. A Fast One-Of-Five 2014 Porsche ANDIAL GT3 Cup For Sale
After making a big ‘to do’ about ANDIAL delivering their first customer car under the PMNA banner in early December of 2014, the owner of that car has decided to sell it, apparently. The car is listed on eBay at an astonishing asking price of more than three-hundred twenty-thousand dollars. I’ll grant him that ANDIAL did a thorough bottom-to-top overhaul of the car, including a new engine, transaxle, braking system, suspension, and Motec display, but to call the car a ‘2014’ anything seems a bit misleading to me. He’s been racing this car for years already, and indeed, the chassis was built in 2011.
The seller does bill the car as ‘one of the fastest Cup race cars in the world’, which could be true with a 4.0 liter engine pumping out 505 horses. That said, you can order a brand-new never-raced 991 GT3 Cup for that kind of money, and it’d be eligible for a lot more racing than just PCA events.
