The first time we saw Wilco Machiels’ Porsche Dioramas we were so blown away with the detail and quality that we ended up buying one for ourselves (he did give us a break in price because of all the traffic we sent him, but it was still expensive). Since then, we follow his work and visit his web-site frequently to see if there’s anything new. While we’re not quite sure how long ago he created this new diorama of a Porsche 356 garage, we don’t remember seeing it before.
Wilco works in 1:24 scale and makes everything from scratch fabricating the garage and using Tamiya, Fujimi and other high detail model kits to create his masterpieces. While he doesn’t currently have anything listed for sale, it’s still fun to view his gallery and browse through the incredible diversity of Porsche dioramas (as well as other marques) in his portfolio.
Should you choose to contact Wilco he will do custom creations and create a garage that replicates your own. When we purchased our Porsche diorama Wilco strongly suggested we pay to fly him over to hand deliver it. We didn’t! That was a mistake. As a result, even though he packaged it with extreme care, it still suffered some damage from handling and it took time and patience to piece things back together. Fortunately, Wilco shipped our diorama with detailed images so we knew where everything belonged. 🙂
So, if you saw these pictures (they are a lot easier to view directly on our site), but didn’t see the one showing it to scale, how long would it take you to figure out it’s a Porsche diorama?
