It has been a very Porsche heavy week on the TST YouTube channel this week, so it only makes sense that we would bring the videos to you. The first is a Turbocharged Cayman from one of our favorite Porsche tuners, TPC Racing. The second is a TAG Motorsports tuned 991.1 Carrera 4GTS, which sounds like a riot to drive. Let’s jump in.
TPC Racing Cayman S Turbo
This particular car is a TPC Stage 2 intercooled turbocharged 987 Generation Cayman S with TPC headers and turbo-back exhaust. As you can tell from the video, the car is quite a bit faster than a stock Cayman with a claimed 400 wheel horsepower, and quite a bit louder as well. Normally turbocharging will reduce the noise output of a car, but this car seems to sound quite a bit louder than stock thanks to the exhaust. That traditional Cayman howl has not gone anywhere, and with the addition of the turbo noise, you have an interesting note. In the flyby sections of the video, the Porsche even sounds like it could have been developed by Porsche Motorsport with a Rennsport bark. For the money, this seems like a great car for the Porsche fanatic, though the suggestion of brake work stands to reason. Ride along with Matt Farah as he tells you about the car.
TAG Motorsports Tuned 991.1 Carrera 4GTS
This particular Porsche has some aftermarket HRE wheels and Bilstein suspension, an AWE intake and exhaust with GIAC ECU tune. The tuning increases the car’s power output to the tune of 420 horsepower, while adding some additional exhaust shout and induction noise. The interesting part of this video is that Matt had the opportunity to drive a stock 991.2 Carrera 4S back to back with this naturally aspirated 991.1 car. His take on the car is interesting when viewed in this light. Those keen Porsche fanatics like us will notice that Matt says he thinks the 991.1 GTS benefited from Porsche’s Rear Wheel Steer option, though that is incorrect. We can forgive him for a few bits of incorrect information every now and again, right? Goodness knows I’m not right all the time. I will say that I would absolutely love the opportunity to drive that car on that road. Beautiful drive.
