After five years of successful racing campaigns across Europe, Falken Motorsports is retiring their iconic blue and turquoise Porsche 997 GT3 R. This car has secured a podium finish at the 24 hours of the Nurburgring, and competed in several other VLN Endurance races with great success, primarily focused on conquering the Green Hell. This 911 has hundreds of hours of race time with some of the best GT3 drivers in the world behind the wheel; Martin Ragginger, Alexandre Imperatori, Wolf Henzler, and Peter Dumbreck.
Since the car began racing, Falken Motorsports estimates that it has been fitted with about 4500 sets of Falken tires. That’s a well-used race car, you might be thinking. Well, the team has taken good care of the car and luckily the drivers are pretty good at keeping it out of trouble. It’s been built and rebuilt a number of times, so you can be sure this Porsche is in good nick. Whether you want it for continued racing in regional series, as a collectible, or even as a vintage racing car, this could be the keystone of many Porsche collections. It’s an iconic car in a now-iconic livery.
While Falken Racing here in the US has decided to disband, Falken Motorsports in Europe will likely remain. With the introduction of the new 991 version of the GT3 R, it is likely they are selling this car to make room for the new one. They don’t lay out what exactly is included in the spares package, but this is a well-prepared instantly recognizable racing car, and they’re asking half-million Euros for the car. If you’re looking to buy a historically significant Porsche, this might be one you want. If you want an opportunity to get up close and personal with the car, it will be on display at the Essen Motor Show from the 27th of November through the 4th of December.
