Listen, we’re always happy for horsepower, but there’s got to be a limit, right? Porsche doesn’t think so. That’s why Porsche built this 5,000 pound face-melting Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid with 690 horsepower, nearly 200 miles per hour top speed, and a 0-60 in three seconds flat. Hang on, baby, we’re going to town!
While Porsche is absolutely killing the game with the new sporty Taycan electric sedan, it’s still imbuing the old-guard Panamera with a few up-its-sleeve tricks at the same time. If you absolutely must have the fire-breathing twin-turbo V8, at least now you can get it with a compact electric motor and battery setup to occasionally drive on full electric juice to save a few tons of CO2 here and there. And since you have both of those drivetrains onboard, they may as well work in tandem to provide a hellaciously quick German über-wagon.
In this test, our friend Motoman gives us insight into a new Porsche that is so new he doesn’t even have pricing or fuel economy figures yet. This model being reviewed here was shipped over from Germany specifically for motoring reporters like him to test the thing out. It’s also been tested by MotorTrend, you know, since it was in the neighborhood.
The new Panamera is absolutely exquisite inside and out, the Sport Turismo long roof model provides even more to love. Why wouldn’t we love it with a massive nearly 700 horsepower onboard? If some is good, more is always better, right?
What do you think of that pumpkin-esque color palette? I think personally, I’m a fan. I love when a big Porsche is painted in an oddball color like this. If you’re going to go to all the trouble of ordering a brand new Porsche for a couple hundred thousand dollars, why not get it in the good color, right? Down with greyscale colors!
